Success is all about connecting. Your ability to connect with others will determine the level of success you will have.

Connecting with others is key. This is true for every part of your life.

Why do clients walk away from a company? They often feel they have disconnected. Breakdown in a relationship is often described as – ‘not connecting anymore’.

However the opposite is also very true – The deeper you connect with someone, a team, a company – the more your influence increases.

Therefore for success a leader, or someone wanting to engage at a better level with clients – connectivity is vital.

Click here for a previous blog I did about ‘Everyone Communicates, Few Connect’.

Communicating and brand awareness is not connecting – they are separate.

To sell a ‘product – connectivity is required’.

The great news is that connecting is a learnable skill, we can all become better at connecting and as we do we will see our influence increase.

We all have untapped potential within us. Your ability to connect with others will help you to grow into your full potential.

Desire & Attitude

Like all things in life we must have a desire and the right attitude to learn how to become ‘Masters’ at connecting: John C Maxwell says “The ability to connect with others begins with understanding the value of people”.

Genuine connection with others – comes from appreciating the value of people. When we value others – we connect with them better.

Connecting will make or break you

The ability you have to connect will make or break you. The art of connecting cannot be over emphasised. When I consider those that are very successful they tend to have a very natural way of connecting.

Try and take time out to learn this. We can learn what the most successful people do differently when it comes to connecting.

Consider for a moment this question

In your business, place of work, what would the impact be in the next 90 days; if you just focussed on connecting with your team, present clients and prospective clients?

It is easy to fall in the trap of thinking that if we just continue to do what we have always done, we will always get greater results. The truth is the world is changing and to stay ahead we must be able to increasingly develop the ability to become a ‘master’ of connecting.

As I mentioned at the start of this blog connecting with others professionally or personally will always bring success.

  • Consider your last 10 days – how well do you think you connected with those around you?
  • What actions could you take to become a ‘master’ at connecting?
