You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.
Let the truth of those words seriously impact you – You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.
As one ages it becomes easier to just allow life to lead you rather than you leading your life.
It’s as if ‘auto pilot’ has kicked in. We just wake up and respond to life. We do what we do and ultimately allow the status quo to become our life style.
Or….we can determine as we get older, never to allow age to deter us from setting new goals or dreams which we may have or want.
It is time to – Kick Out The Auto Pilot!
This quote – You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream. from C S Lewis provokes us to do something. More importantly, famous words from Jesus reminds us about life whatever age we are. He said, “I came that you might have life and life in abundance.”
I encounter more and more people who are literally taking hold of the ‘second half’ of their life with great intention and expectation. Are you one of them?
Here are 3 steps to make sure you have a strategy for a successful and fulfilled second half of your life.
Accelerate
Speed up, don’t slow down. Look after your body, be careful what and how much you eat and drink. Keep active, go for walks. Do what you can to stay healthy.
Write down your goals and dreams. I have found writing them out rather than using a keyboard helps me to make a commitment to my hopes and dreams.
Focus on hope and your dreams for 12 months, add some long terms ones as well. Bring huge vision and expectation to them. Be daring. Discover what motivates you and causes you to speed up. Don’t allow negative thoughts and self limiting beliefs undermine your future.
Tell yourself that you are stepping it up not slowing it down or backing off. Look for areas where you can serve, lead and teach. Expect to have an impact and bless many people.
Grow
Where would you like to be in 5 – 10 years time? Getting older is automatic, personal growth is not. If we want to grow in certain areas we must do something about it. Remember this: If nothing changes – nothing changes!
Never believe these lies – ‘I am past it’ or ‘I can’t do anything.’ Look at active ways to step up and move out of your comfort zone. Growth requires action. Winston Churchill summed it up so well – Never, never, never give up!
You make the big decisions for your life, for your dreams and goals and then manage them on a daily basis. Structure will enable you to stay on track.
Enjoy
As we get older, lets be one of those who enjoys life more and more each day. Enjoyment is not just for the young.
Enjoy and savour your day, experiences and the journey you are on. Cultivate an attitude of appreciation every day.
Enjoyment also comes as we let go of those things we can’t do anything about. Focus on areas in which you can make a difference.
Enjoy your own calling. Don’t try to be someone else – Everyone else has already been taken! You are you.
As you’ll know with increasing clarity and depth, you are becoming a ‘master of enjoyment.’ Vow to really enjoy life. You’ll be a model to those around!
So remember these 3 steps in the second half of your life. Go, make a huge, positive impact with those around you. Believe big, dream big and enjoy the journey.
Remember to think about AGE this way:
Accelerate
Grow
Enjoy
It’s never too late to set another goal or dream a new dream. Is it?

Great post!! I enjoyed it! :-)
Great, encouraging post, Tony!
Being up there in age, there comes a time I wonder if it’s worth the struggle to ascent the steep staircase. Don’t have to think for long, I say “YES” and continue one step at a time.
Wishing you all the best!
If you find some time, stop by my place and check how I grow! :)

Thank you for this wonderfully true and encouraging article and website. I am 84 and at 95 my mother was still going to the Salvation Army bldg. to “help the elderly on a very snow stormy day several years ago. She was my inspiration to never give up!

At 64, I truly can relate to this message. In the last 10 years, or so, I have set up and completed some of my most enjoyable dreams and goals
Thank you for reminding me of such an important message.
If I say that this post is fantastic, I will be unfair because it is more than fantastic. I’m inspired by you. You’re like a ray of sunshine on a really dreary day.
